I have been pursuing my passion as an artist for of most my life. I began my career with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of California, Irvine with a major in Studio Arts. I also earned a teaching credential through U.C.I. plus an Art Specialist Degree to teach at the secondary level. Since that time, I have been a professional artist and art teacher, but now I am a full -time artist. I am inspired by the Impressionists, with a special admiration for Edgar Degas and Camille Pissarro's art. Much like the Post Impressionists, I create art with what I feel in addition to what I observe.
I am a lover of all animals, with a special passion for endangered species and horses. Having been a serious rider, I loved being at the stables, even mucking stalls, so I could just be around these magnificent creatures to enjoy their beauty. In addition to animals, I love nature and I find rustic themes intriguing because I spent my childhood in a very small country town. I have fond memories of where I grew up and was free to roam and explore the wilderness which surrounded me.
In order to encourage the protection of endangered animals, and also programs for at-risk youth I will donate part of the proceeds from the sales of my art to well-vetted, non-profit organizations that support these causes. I have a heart not only for defenseless animals but also a heart for teens who, like endangered animals, struggle and need help to survive difficult situations.
I work primarily in pastel, but I find the art of printmaking fascinating and often will incorporate pastel into printmaking. In printmaking, I focus on monoprints, lithography and etchings. Printmaking allows me to simplify shape and form thus producing a more abstract art piece where I can incorporate multiple ink tones.
